Fassbender has already played a wide range of roles in his career, including the Spartan warrior Stelios in 300, Magneto/Erik Lensherr in numerous X-Men movies, Carl Jung in A Dangerous Method, the android David in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, and Steve Jobs in the movie of the same name. More recently, he starred in the Paramount+ spy thriller series The Agency and in Steven Soderbergh's Black Bag.
Variety now reports that negotiations have begun for Fassbender to join the next film directed by Brady Corbet. This is the first project the filmmaker has directed since The Brutalist, which received 10 Academy Award nominations and three wins, including Corbet receiving nods for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.
While most details about Corbet's next film remain under wraps, in a prior interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he described it as "X-rated,""genre-defying," and"that it takes place mostly in the 1970s, but the film spans from the 19th century into the present day.
" He also clarified that despite the rumors, it was not inspired by The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and is not part of the slasher genre. More to come...
