Born in Madison, Wis. on July 3, 1940, Cochran made his acting debut in the 1961 film Forbid Them Not and in bit parts on television before getting his big break in 1968 with. Cole starred alongside Clarence Williams III and Peggy Lipton as three young "hippie" outcasts recruited to work as undercover detectives in lieu of jail time.was one of mainstream Hollywood's first attempts to deal seriously with the counterculture.
