Michael Biehn's Bold Audition for 'Aliens': The Story Behind His Role

Actor Michael Biehn shares the untold story of his audition for 'Aliens', revealing his initial interest in playing Corporal Hicks and his bold negotiation with director James Cameron.

Actor Michael Biehn , known for his role as Private James Hudson in ' Aliens ', revealed at Big Lick Comic Con NOVA that he initially auditioned for the part of Corporal Hicks , played by actor Michael Fassbender.

However, director James Cameron had other plans. Cameron had Biehn read for the role of Hicks, but was not ready to commit as he hadn't seen other actors audition for the part. Biehn, in a bold move, told Cameron that if he couldn't play Hicks, he wasn't interested in any other role. Cameron, who had already made 'The Terminator' but was not yet the industry giant he would become with 'Titanic' and 'Avatar', was open to negotiation.

He offered to rewrite the script and create a new, larger role for Biehn. Biehn, however, approached the offer with arrogance, stating he would think about it.

Meanwhile, Stanley Kubrick cast Biehn in 'Full Metal Jacket' and wanted him for eight weeks. Biehn returned to Cameron, intending to decline the offer. Cameron countered with a more attractive proposal, including days off for another project and proper pay. Armed with Cameron's terms, Biehn approached Kubrick with practical requests, but Kubrick refused to budge on script access, pay above union minimum, or scheduling.

Biehn had to choose, and the rest, as they say, is history
