The first movie made over $709 million worldwide on its estimated $150 million budget, representing massive returns for the sci-fi action movie. It was the fifth-highest-grossing movie worldwide of 2007, and the highest-grossing of any film that year not from an existing cinematic franchise.

Currently, the film is available to watch on Paramount+ and rent on Prime Video.
