The punches were thrown after the College Football Playoff game ended.
In a video of the ESPN broadcast, cameras captured Fletcher approaching Indiana redshirt junior defensive lineman Tyrique Tucker and throwing two punches, first with his right hand, then coming back immediately with his left.
The video does not show what, if anything, Tucker said before the punches. After Fletcher threw the punches, Tucker waved his right hand, said something and then backed away as Fletcher continued to go after him. A Miami coach eventually held back Fletcher and the incident ended. Miami director of recruiting Mike Rumph shared his side of the story on the CBS Sports’ college football“Dude was talking about Mark’s dad who passed away last year,” Rumph said. “Mark is and always will be one of the most classy people you will meet. RIP Mr. Fletcher.”, Fletcher detailed the impact his father’s death had on him."After the game, Tucker spoke with“I was just trying to congratulate him on the game,” Tucker said. “He tried to sneak me and everybody kind of held me back. That was a cheap punch. Luckily, we got the win, I’m not really too worried about it. He’s salty.
