Following in her mother Kate Winslet’s footsteps, the 22-year-old is set to take the acting world by storm.
Mia Threapleton is not your usual 22-year-old. For a start, when the actor has time off, you’ll usually find her “walking barefoot in the trees” or reading a classic novel, such as Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. She’s off all social media, she barely watches TV and, oh yes, her mother is Kate Winslet.
“I feel like it brought us closer,” she says of starring alongside said Hollywood A-lister in BAFTA-winning dramafor Channel 4 last December. London-born, New York-raised and now Edinburgh-based , Threapleton took the role of Freya, a 17-year-old at odds with her mother, Ruth, played by Winslet. It was a career milestone for the rising star, who at one point considered pursuing fashion design. “I’ve always loved historical periods of clothing,” she explains.
