A Mississippi State Trooper had to be airlifted after being struck by a vehicle while conducting a checkpoint in Hancock County.
MHP says the incident is currently under investigation as a possible driving under the influence causing injury charge. HANCOCK COUNTY , Miss. - A Mississippi State Trooper suffered serious injuries while conducting a checkpoint in Hancock County .
Around 10 p.m. on Friday, May 24, the Mississippi Highway Patrol was conducting a checkpoint in correlation with the Memorial Day travel period on Highway 90 in Hancock County when a vehicle, driven by a teenager, collided with MHP Trooper Nicholas Dean. Officials say Trooper Dean was airlifted from the scene with serious injuries to an out-of-state hospital.
MHP says the incident is currently under investigation as a possible driving under the influence causing injury charge. “Trooper Dean is fortunately expected to make a full recovery,” Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety Sean Tindell said. “Drinking and driving recklessly puts everyone’s life at risk and may result in felony charges in incidents such as this.”See a spelling or grammar error in this story?
