Thwala added that the first person to get up and ran away was Longwe Twala, the boyfriend of Khumalo’s sister, Zandie Khumalo-Gumede. It was only when they heard the first gun shot that everyone in the house froze and were shocked, Thwala said. “I remember everyone separating and I ran out of the [kitchen] door and I crossed paths with Senzo. And the second intruder chased me and then he ran down the road. And I ran into the neighbour's yard and what I also recall is that two men came out from the neighbour's house. I can't remember what I said to them, but I told them that there was an ongoing robbery.
