The Mexico City Grand Prix was brought to a halt on Monday morning when Haas star Kevin Magnussen cannoned into the barriers. Part of the Danish Formula One driver’s car burst into flames after the crippling collision at turn nine, but he was able to escape from the wreckage unharmed.
Kevin Magnussen crashes into the wall at Mexico City Grand Prix. The incident didn’t involve any other cars, with replays showing the problem stemming from contact with the kerb at turn eight, which damaged the right rear suspension and sent him into the barriers seconds later. The safety car was initially called before race officials eventually red flagged the race completely with 36 laps remaining in the race.
