An 11-year-old girl named Valentina Guzman Murillo, who had been receiving treatment at Shriners Children's Hospital in Philadelphia for the past four months, was tragically killed alongside her mother when their medical transport plane crash ed in Northeast Philadelphia on Friday. The Jet Rescue Air Ambulance , en route to Mexico , also claimed the lives of four crew members: Captain Alan Montoya, Co-pilot Josue Juarez, Paramedic Rodrigo Padilla, and Dr. Raul Meza.

Murillo had been receiving specialized care at the hospital, which is known for providing exceptional medical attention to children regardless of their background or financial status. Dr. Amer F. Samdani, a neurosurgeon at Shriners Children's, emphasized the hospital's commitment to treating all patients with the same level of care, whether they are from a remote village or a wealthy family. He highlighted the hospital's reliance on donations and endowments to provide care to those who cannot afford it.The crash has resulted in 24 known injuries, according to Mayor Cherelle Parker.
