Customs and Border Protection officers in Eagle Pass found several packages of meth strapped to man’s waist.
A 27-year-old Mexican man has been sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison for attempting to smuggle drugs across the Texas-Mexico border. On Nov. 12, 2020, Braulio Reyes of Agujita , Coahuila , Mexico, was traveling through the Eagle Pass port of entry using the pedestrian lane. But Customs and Border Protection officers stopped him and found several packages of methamphetamine hydrochloride strapped to his waist, according to a news release from the U.S.

He had been facing a federal prison term of 10 years up to life and a maximum fine of $10,000. His sentence of 19 years and seven months was handed down this week in a federal court in Del Rio.
