Along with supporting these communities, many notable moments in Texas history, city celebrations, and day-to-day commerce have been hosted in this space.
Republic Square has held significant importance in Austin for hundreds of years starting from the early 1800s up until present-day. It serves to connect modern-day Austin with its past, as it continues to host community events while serving as an active park. “It’s a highly positive impact in the contribution in the Mexican Americans living, working dreaming here,” said Humberto Hernández-Haddad, Consul General of Mexico Austin. “They have done marvelous work, and the economic development of the city of Austin is a wise public policy. Someday, the 5th Street of Austin will be regarded as one of the most dynamic tourism, commercial centers for interaction of social sectors, enjoying the opportunity to know two cultures.
