New York Mets prospect Luisangel Acuna is exceeding expectations in the Venezuelan Winter League after making his MLB Debut in mid-September.
The offseason couldn't be off to a better start for the New York Mets.After acquiring Juan Soto in free agency, Mets prospect Luisangel Acuna is tearing it up in the Venezuelan Winter League. This comes after Acuna made his debut on Sept. 14 against the Philadelphia Phillies.Acuna is playing a variety of positions this winter, covering both ends of the middle infield while also manning centerfield. Offensively, he has an average over .330 with three home runs, 17 RBI and 18 stolen bases.
Acuna is currently the 12th-ranked prospect in the Mets system per MLB.com.In 14 games after being called up, Acuna hit .308 and recorded an OPS of .966 as he helped push the Mets into the postseason, where they reached the National League Championship Series.Whether Acuna is playing in the infield or in the outfield next to Soto, the Mets are relying on him to be a big piece of the team in 2025 and beyond.
