Mets starter Sean Manaea put the games within one win of the NL Championship Series

New York Mets pitcher Sean Manaea reacts as he walks off the field at the end of the top of the seventh inning of Game 3 of the National League baseball playoff series against the Philadelphia Phillies, Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, in New York. starter Sean Manaea kissed the sky as he walked off the mound in the eighth inning of Game 3 of the NL Division Series.

“Once he got Harper there, I thought he had the momentum back,” Mendoza said. “I always liked his presence, especially today. His demeanor on the mound, he was always on the attack from the first pitch. ... After he got Harper, I was like, ‘This is his game.’” Instead, Mendoza turned to a duo of relievers to finish off the Phillies. Combined, Phil Maton and Ryne Stanek pitched two innings, allowing one earned run with two strikeouts.

That game drove him to seek help from Driveline Baseball to work on his pitches. Two postseasons later, Manaea’s the go-to arm for a hot team that’s one win away from the NLCS.
