The New York Mets have been tabbed as the landing spot for a 'superman' to fill their biggest roster need this winter.
The New York Mets seem poised for a blockbuster addition or two.After a surprising run to the National League Championship Series and with about $180 million coming off the payroll ahead of the 2025 season, the Mets could decide to build on their momentum by signing superstar slugger Juan Soto, bringing back homegrown first baseman Pete Alonso or making any number of other notable offseason moves.But perhaps their greatest priority will be the rotation.
'Their front office is run by former Brewers GM David Stearns, and owner Steve Cohen could have enough for Burnes even if he's able to sign Juan Soto first.'The case for Burnes as this offseason's top pitcher is fairly clear cut. In seven big-league seasons, he has a 3.19 ERA and 1.063 WHIP with four All-Star nods and a Cy Young Award from his time with Stearns and the Brewers. And, in addition to his effectiveness, he's been remarkably durable throughout his career.
