Mets lose another player with an apparent back injury
New York Mets' Francisco Alvarez appears to hurt his back sliding into third base against the Brewers on Friday. Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez walked off the field in a great deal of pain on Friday at American Family Field.
When Alvarez arrived at third, he reached for his back, rising to his knees and wincing in pain. Then he laid face down over the bag as trainers came and began tending to him. After a few minutes, he was helped to his feet and gingerly walked off the field, his teammates and coaches waiting for him in the dugout, concerned.Alvarez went hitless in the Mets’ 8-4 loss against the Brewers, reaching twice on walks.
Alvarez missed nearly two months earlier in the year after fracturing his thumb. He has insisted that the thumb injury has not played a factor in his offense, but with time, his power has returned.
