In a statement, Metro said the confrontation began when "Metro Contract Security encountered a trespasser during a routine security sweep of an ancillary area" of the station. The wounded guard was transported to a hospital in stable condition, the agency said. The stabbing suspect was pronounced dead at the scene and was not immediately identified.
