The station will close during emergency response drills that will involve area law enforcement and first responders.

The Capitol South Metro station in Southeast D.C. will be closed Sunday until about 2 p.m. while more than 100 law enforcement officers and first responders practice responses to simulated security threats, Metro announced Friday.Metro Transit Police, U.S. Capitol Police, D.C. police, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police and several Metro employees are expected to participate in the exercise, which will start at 8 a.m. Sunday.

“The exercise will simulate a real-world response to an active assailant in the Metrorail system,” transit officials said in a statement. “People in the area will see and hear a large emergency response and police activity in and around the station, including simulated ammunition . Please be assured this is only a drill.
