Metro Mayor wants Liverpool City Region to be top of the agenda for next administration
Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram has vowed to work with whatever party wins the general election and wants the Liverpool City Region to be ready on day one.
With 27 days to go, the Labour Mayor said regardless of the outcome, the city region would continue to seek a positive relationship with Whitehall. Last month, Mr Rotheram secured his own third term and remains the only person to serve as Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region since the role's inception in 2017. Claiming victory in May, he did so with an increased vote share of 68%.
“We’re putting our proposals together as we speak and the submissions so that we can be ready on day one of any potential government and outline our priorities for the region to ministers, secretaries of state, and ensure we’re delivering for the 1.6m people we’re lucky to serve.”
