Following its announcement during the company's Connect event, we now know more about the Meta Quest 3, which was first
, which was first revealed back in June. And as part of the reveal, the company has confirmed that the headset will indeed be pivoting from being purely VR to mixed reality. It also confirms a some of what was revealed before, alongside the rest of its spec sheet.
With the announcement, the Facebook parent has confirmed that the chip powering the Meta Quest 3 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2. Not exactly surprising, since nothing else matched perfectly with the description of next-gen Qualcomm chipset. The company says that this results in twice the performance of the Quest 2.The company also touts the improved weight distribution balance of the Meta Quest 3, which now also supports glasses on the inside.
The Meta Quest 3 comes with 8GB of RAM, as well as a choice of two storage configurations, which are 128GB and 512GB. As you’d expect, this means two retail prices, which are US$499.99 and US$649.99 , respectively. They are expected to shop from 10 October onwards, but it may take awhile for them to land on our shores, and unofficially at that.
