The Metropolitan Police Commissioner has said chief constables are unable to sack hundreds of officers who should not be in the police He accused independent lawyers who run the Met’s dismissal process of being “fundamentally soft”
has ramped up his attack on what he says is the “biased system” stopping him from sacking rogue officers.
Citing a recent case in which an officer was not fired at an LQC-run hearing, despite being found guilty of unwanted kissing and touching in the workplace, Sir Mark told The Met Police chief said there were 209 Met officers awaiting misconduct hearings who were on full pay, with dates only set for hearings in only 49 cases.
