The Metropolitan Police is investigating reports of a sexting scam involving parliamentary members after a Conservative MP claims he was blackmailed into sharing his colleagues' phone numbers after sharing intimate images of himself.

He explained: "They had compromising things on me. They wouldn't leave me alone. They would ask for people."
"I've hurt people by being weak. I was scared. I'm mortified. I'm so sorry that my weakness has caused other people hurt." Described as a "spear phishing" attempt, this honeytrap sexting scam is a cyber attack aimed at specific individuals or groups. Spear phishing is when fraudsters pose as trustworthy sources to extract personal or confidential data.
Andrew Bridgen, the Independent MP for North West Leicestershire, stated he wasn't behind the report.
