After a record-breaking heatwave in the UK last month, more hot weather is on the way this week with highs of 35C expected.
Lancashire will bathe in glorious sunshine this week with temperatures rising from 22C today to 25C on Wednesday and then 28C on Thursday. This will continue throughout the weekend with only a five per cent chance of rain while southern parts of the UK will see temperatures climb towards the mid-30s.However by next Tuesday this will fall to highs of 23C in most places. People have been urged not to host barbecues in the tinder-dry conditions following the serious fires last month.
"It does look like a prolonged period of dry weather and obviously that’s bad news for southern England where some rain would really be useful now. In terms of temperatures we’re looking at them build from 28C or 29C tomorrow to the low to mid 30s from Thursday onwards, so a fairly widespread heatwave developing across the UK this week.
Tonight: A fine end to the day with plenty of long clear spells overnight. Though there will be some patchy cloud around at times across Cumbria. Minimum temperature 9 °C.
