The warning will come into place tonight
The warning will come into place at 6pm tonight and remain in place until 10am tomorrow. It covers the whole of our region, as well as other parts of the north of England and the Midlands.
According to the Met Office, icy surfaces 'are expected to develop following wintry showers leading to some difficult travelling conditions'. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are possible, as well as icy patches on the roads, pavements and cycle paths. The warning comes after multiple warnings for heavy rain were issued earlier in the week. Flood alerts were also in place in areas near the River Mersey and River Douglas.
A cold snap is expected to hit the UK from tomorrow, with temperatures plummeting to -1C in Greater Manchester. Snow could hit the region, particularly in hilly and higher areas, forecasters predict.
