For an official heatwave to take place here in Lancashire we need to see temperatures of 25C for at least three consecutive days
Temperatures are set to rise to 27C in some parts of the UK according to some outlets, however in Lancashire it will be far cooler with mercury levels only reaching 20C on Saturday and 21C on Sunday . A UK heatwave threshold is met when a location records a period of at least three consecutive days with daily maximum temperatures meeting or exceeding the heatwave temperature threshold
For an official heatwave to take place in our region there must be temperatures of 25C for at least three consecutive days. While it is set to be a warmer than the average for this time of year, the conditions won't come close to constituting a heatwave, the ECHO reports.Forecasters are predicting highs of 20C on Saturday with lots of cloud and the occasional breakthrough of sunshine. The conditions will continue into Sunday, however it could be slightly warmer with highs of 21C.
The Met Office says it will turn "much warmer and largely fine over the weekend". Things are then predicted to turn slightly cooler into next week, with highs of 18C on Monday and Tuesday. Moving further into next week we can expect "increasingly unsettled and cooler weather" with rain "particularly in the north and west", and a "chance of coastal gales at times".Largely cloudy through the morning with the odd shower. Turning generally wetter and windier during the afternoon with some persistent and at times heavy rain arriving. Local coastal gales developing. Maximum temperature 16C.
