It follows a very wet and disappointing summer period
We have enjoyed some unseasonably warm weather over the last month - and now forecasters have given their view on whether the hot spells could continue. Some have claimed October could break records with temperatures reaching up to 23C in some areas of the UK.
"In what is going to feel like an Indian summer, we have also cut the odds on temperatures reaching 30C.” The Met Office is lending weight to the predictions, saying: “As we move into October, higher pressure close to or just east of the UK, indicates a greater chance of more in the way of settled conditions.
"As a result there will be a higher chance of southern and eastern areas of the UK having periods of drier weather." The Beeb adds: "The general air flow will be predominantly from the south-west, so temperatures should be a little above the early October average."
