“Heartbroken today. Dennis D’Agostino, my friend of over 40 years and co-worker for 5 with the Mets, died suddenly,” Horowitz said Sunday. “We shared the 1986 Championship. Couldn’t have done it without him. He went on to enjoy a great PR career with the Knicks. He was a Met forever. Love you Dennis.”
The NBA also released a statement Sunday, calling him “the quintessential public relations expert and a beloved member of the NBA family.” D’Agostino wrote “Garden Glory,” an oral history of the Knicks, in 2003, with a foreword by Hall of Famer Walt “Clyde” Frazier., “As a native New Yorker, he offered an artistic reverence to communicating the Knicks legacy to our loyal fanbase like no one else could.”, play-by-play broadcaster Gary Cohen and color commentator Ron Darling also shared their love of D’Agostino.
