Harrisburg's Messiah Mickens earns All-American honors as a linebacker and joins other top high school football players on the MaxPreps Junior All-America Team.
Harrisburg's District 3 championship season ended more than a month ago, although two-way ace Messiah Mickens continues to stack up postseason awards. Mickens, a Penn State running back recruit, added the title of All-American linebacker Wednesday with the release of MaxPreps’ Junior All-America Team. Joining Mickens as a first-team linebacker was Anthony Jones of St. Paul Episcopal in Alabama and Georgia’s Tyler Atkinson, tabbed MaxPreps’ national junior of the year.
The 6-0, 200-pound Mickens, who rushed for 1,214 yards and 21 touchdowns, paced the Cougars’ defense with 81 tackles, including a Mid-Penn Conference high 39 for loss
