Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos has commented on the absence of Lionel Messi and Neymar after the team suffered their first Ligue 1 loss of the season. SLInt MORE:
PSG suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of second-place Lens on Sunday night, ending their unbeaten start to the league campaign. The gap between PSG and Lens now sets at four points, but Galtier admits his side did not deserve to take home maximum points on the night.
“I think Lens were more clinical, both teams had chances in a very intense match. They were clinical, especially in the first half, they won the challenges that made the difference, we had chances to come back but we weren’t as efficient as they were. "They [Messi and Neymar] are great players who have made the difference before, but we’ve already won without them, we need to rediscover the team’s cohesion.”“Lens deserve the win, and I had a hard time recognising my team. We conceded due to their strengths – transitions and deep runs," Galtier said, as per GFNF.
"We were lacking in cohesion, we liquefied as the game went on, even though we came back after the first Lens goal. We left a lot of space and made a lot of errors on the ball. "There was also the way in which we expressed ourselves in possession, a lot of waste which was surprising from my boys, who aren’t usually like that. At certain points in the match, a lot of cohesion was missing.”
