The suspect in custody for his alleged role in the kidnapping and deaths of the Merced County family was previously arrested in 2005.
He allegedly pointed the gun at Gant's head and back throughout the incident.
He told Gant's daughter, Katrina, to get back into a room, then walked down the hallway where he saw a light in a bathroom. He told the family to jump in the pool. The women jumped in, but Salgado allegedly tried to push Gant in the deep end.
