Sen. Robert Menendez has been accused of acting as a foreign agent in a new superseding federal indictment, according toMenendez is accused of accepting bribes from officials in Egypt in exchange for allegedly providing sensitive U.S. government information to help the government of Egypt, the indictment says,
The updated indictment alleges that Menenedez’s wife Nadine Menendez and Wael Hana, a New Jersey businessman, introduced the senator to Egyptian military officials to establish a “corrupt agreement” to give the Menendez’s hundreds of thousands of dollars in exchange for Menendez helping the government of Egypt,which says individuals have to register with the U.S.
The superseding indictment, which was filed by a federal grand jury in Manhattan on Thursday, said the conspiracy occurred from January 2018 to June 2022,of maintaining a “corrupt relationship” with Hana, Uribe and Daibes who allegedly bribed the senator and wife with gold, money, a luxury car and home mortgage payments in exchange for “series of official acts and breaches of official duty.
