It’s almost laughable, because anyone who has been following Megan Thee Stallion’s career over the past two years has at one point or another witnessed the ways in which even fame doesn’t provide an escape from the realities of misogynoir; Black women are condemned for calling attention to their abuse more than those who are responsible for it.
Sexism never runs quite as rampant as it does when mediocre men get their hands on something they seem to believe will be a useful tool in humbling, or controlling, a woman. Nonconsensual porn circulated asis only one example. And when misogynists can’t find anything substantially tangible to weaponize, they spread misleading information and demand unmerited apologies,while protecting the careers of those who pose an active threat to the safety and wellbeing of women.
