Gulf states from Texas to Florida will experience a heat wave over Memorial Day weekend, weather maps show.Texas is set to bear the worst of the heat wave, with temperatures reaching 100 F in the south of the state on Saturday. However, forecasters have warned that temperatures could feel as high as 112 F in central Texas.Laredo, Kingsville, Alice, and Cotulla are predicted to be among the hottest through to Monday.Meanwhile, temperatures in the north of the state will reach 84 F on Saturday.
The intense heat will persist across the region into early next week, although some relief is expected by midweek with the arrival of a cold front, according to weather forecasters.It comes after weeks of severe weather in the United States, with thunderstorms and tornadoes wreaking havoc across the Gulf states and the Midwest.A severe storm hit Texas last week, with 100mph winds and torrential rain.
