The Melbourne Storm have told the NRL they are not interested in playing in Las Vegas in 2025. This season the league took it’s opening round to the US in a controversial move. The success of that decision is still debatable, but the NRL is backing it up next year. The Storm had expressed interest in being involved but have now change their mind.

Storm CEO Justin Rodski said the club was looking at new ways to help grow its brand and the game, but Vegas wasn’t the right fit. “While we are supportive of the NRL’s vision for growth and expansion internationally, the time is not right for Storm to head to Vegas in 2025,” Rodski said. “Having played two trial matches away from Victoria in 2024, including the ground-breaking trial match in Fiji, the club will concentrate efforts on its local members, fans and participants.
