A second shop in Melbourne's north has been torched in as many days as ongoing disputes involving Middle Eastern crime groups and bikies escalate.

Nearby worker Bruno Lo Piccolo said he heard "three loud bangs" before he rushed over to see what was happening.

"I just thought it was the garbos cause usually that's the time they come and apparently they ended up smashing into the convenience store," he said."The Arson and Explosives Squad will be looking at all possible motives for this fire, and we have strong avenues of enquiry to identify the offenders," he said.

"This is inherently dangerous behaviour and I want to assure the public that police will not tolerate such blatant and dangerous criminal conduct in our communities."
