Michigan Rep. Peter Meijer was one of the 10 House Republicans who voted last year to impeach Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol.
Rep. Peter Meijer, a Republican from Michigan who was defeated last week in his primary, warned Sunday that Democrats' strategy of boosting GOP candidates endorsed by former President Donald Trump could backfire in a"spectacular way" when voters go to the polls for the general election in November.
The ad was panned by Republicans and Democrats alike, and Meijer derided the effort by the DCCC as a"rare showing of bipartisan unity." While Meijer said he takes responsibility for his loss, he noted the ad from Democrats' campaign arm was intended to target Republican voters ahead of what was a close race.
Of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump, just three have advanced to the general election in November, while four have decided to retire from Congress. Next week, Rep.
