Susulan kematian George Floyd hingga menyebabkan berlakunya rusuhan perkauman di Amerika Syarikat, Meghan Markle turut menyuarakan pendapatnya.
Sehubungan itu dia menggesa semua pihak agar tidak terus berdiam diri kerana isu kehilangan nyawa George Floyd bukanlah satu perkara kecil. Markle berkata demikian sewaktu menyampaikan ucapan bagi upacara graduasi maya penuntut Immaculate Heart High School, yang juga merupakan tempat dia pernah bersekolah.
Markle, yang ibunya juga merupakan warga Amerika Syarikat berkulit hitam, turut menyebut beberapa nama individu berkulit hitam yang pernah menjadi mangsa kekejaman kaum di negara tersebut seperti Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile dan Tamir Rice.“Saya yakin anda tahu nyawa kaum kulit hitam juga penting.
