Adair, however, in the same interview admitted that his relationship 30 years ago with a then-15-year-old started emotional but escalated into sexual activity. He described the affair toThe Dallas Morning News “An offender convicted of sex with an underage girl 20 years his junior should not be holding a position of moral authority over even the most trusting and forgiving congregation,” former DMN columnist Jacquielynn Floyd wrote in the column several years ago.“So many people who made major errors in life deserve the chance, step by step, to prove themselves as reformed and rehabilitated,” he wrote.
“While Mr. Adair has no legal restrictions preventing him from visiting our campus, in light of his past transgressions, Mr. Adair has long agreed with Watermark’s leaders that he should not be permitted to provide childcare or volunteer in any ministry to minors,” the church wrote in the statement.
