The Mega Millions jackpot climbed to $695 million after no one won the Sept. 10 drawing. While the grand prize remained elusive, four second-prize tickets, each worth at least $1 million, were sold across the US. The next drawing is scheduled for Friday.
If someone wins it would be the 15th largest in U.S. lottery history and the eighth biggest Mega Millions prize.was bought in Sugar Land, Texas, for the Sept. 10 drawing. The jackpot has been hit only three times this year.
While Friday’s $695 million drawing didn’t produce a jackpot winner, four second-prize tickets matching five numbers but not the Mega Ball were sold nationally. A ticket bought in Vermont is worth $3 million because the winner spent an extra $1 on the Megaplier option. Tickets sold in Massachusetts and Valley Stream, New York are valued at $1 million each while a ticket purchased in California is worth $359,992. California lottery prizes vary depending on ticket sales and number of winners. They differ from the fixed second prizes offered in other participating states.In addition, three tickets worth $10,000 apiece were sold in New Jersey. Each third-prize ticket matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball.
