Meet the Good Cop

Ron Iddles shares stories from his career as a homicide detective in CBS Justice series, The Good Cop.We catch up with Ron Iddles, the homicide detective who inspired new series The Good Cop."I would say I was an average cop doing a difficult job, but I had a good success rate," says Ron.

We catch up with Ron Iddles at his home in Queensland, where he looks relaxed and calm as the parrots chirp in the background. It seems like a peaceful, fitting retirement for a man who's devoted his entire life to solving crime. But as we chat, it becomes clear that 25 years in the police force and 320 homicides later, he may have physically left the service but has it really left him?I don't really see myself as a celebrity.

Then it's about being patient and playing it somewhat analytically.

Ron Iddles shares stories from his career as a homicide detective in CBS Justice series, The Good Cop.I think it's dangerous to become emotionally involved because your judgment becomes clouded. However, in my career, I made two promises. I made a promise to Bonnie Clark's father and to Michelle Buckingham's mother. Bonnie was a six-year-old who was raped and murdered. I found her killer. Michelle was a 16-year-old girl who was stabbed and left to die on the roadside.

Ron Iddles shares stories from his career as a homicide detective in CBS Justice series, The Good Cop.When I retired, journalist Justine Ford wrote an article for a newspaper in Melbourne, and then a publisher approached her about writing my biography. I took no money from the book, I just asked them to donate 25% to the mental health of police officers. The series just automatically followed on from the book. I have just finished the second series.
