'Airbrush and graffiti style has a history of resistance which perfectly aligns with our intention behind Fuck ICE. We chose red and blue to symbolize the American flag; we wanted to be patriotic, while also sending a message.'
Both Priscila and Esther come from a family of immigrants. Priscila was born and raised in Los Angeles, where her family migrated from Guatemala in 1979. “Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the daily struggles my grandparents and mother faced, the hustle and passion they put into everything they did to provide for our family. Their drive and commitment to creating a better life for us has molded me into the strong, independent, and outspoken Latina I am today,” she explains.
On the other hand, Esther grew up in Oakland, California, and moved to L.A. five years ago. “My grandfather immigrated to the U.S. as a child. He was smuggled out of Russia as his mom fled persecution and poverty,” she says. “Growing up in the Bay Area, I was immersed in its powerful history as an epicenter of social justice movements and my family has instilled in me an obligation to speak out in the face of injustice since I was born,” she continues.
