Cheryl Anne Buford, left, and incumbent Shirley Rose-Gilliam are vying for Fort Bend ISD's Position 4 trustee seat.In the race for Fort Bend ISD Trustee Position 4, incumbent Shirley Rose-Gilliam and challenger Cheryl Anne Buford tout experience in education-related leadership that each sees as key to tackling problems facing the district.
A former teacher who is founder and principal of Houston-based Signature Impact Consulting, Buford said she has advocated for education policy initiatives at the federal, state and local levels. Rose-Gilliam lives with her husband in Missouri City. Both of her children graduated from Fort Bend ISD schools.
She said that ensuring effectiveness and fairness in school zoning with input from stakeholders will be a top priority if she is re-elected.
