Our original wedding date was 18 July 2020. We had booked a beautiful church and reception venue for 120 guests in South Kensington. I chose my dress, by Mori Lee from Aurora Bride, after multiple visits to various bridal shops with my mum and bridesmaids in tow.
We still plan to go all out and celebrate with our family and friends next year, but for us it was important to exchange our marriage vows this year and subsequently move into our own place . Personally, it was a struggle to come to terms with this new split wedding arrangement, especially as we had organised everything.
The ceremony was scheduled to take place in St Simon’s Church in Putney, and the priest was happy to go ahead. I had planned everything pre-Covid-19, including my, with my final fitting taking place in June. Our caterers were very flexible, working towards our reduced numbers without charging us for the original number of guests.
By April it became quite clear that it couldn’t go ahead, so we decided to postpone the whole event to July 2021.
