Lamar Jackson may not have an official agent, but that didn’t stop Meek Mill from making an overture for the disgruntled Ravens quarterback.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft told reporters on Monday that the rapper, with whom he has become close friends, texted him three or four days ago saying that Jackson wanted to come to New England.as the two sides have been unable to agree on a contract extension.that would pay him $32.14 million this season should he return to Baltimore, but it allows other teams to negotiate a potential deal with him that the Ravens can match.
“You all are great but I had to make a business decision that was best for my family and I. No matter how far I go or where my career takes me, I’ll continue to be close to my fans of Baltimore Flock nation and the entire State of Maryland. You’ll See me again.” The Patriots, who missed the playoffs for the second time in three seasons since Tom Brady left for Tampa Bay, aren’t in desperate need of a quarterback. But they could certainly feel the need for an upgrade after Mac Jones regressed in his second season with the inexperienced Matt Patricia and Joe Judge handling the offensive coordinator duties. There is little doubt a healthy Jackson would be an upgrade over Jones or his backup Bailey Zappe.
Healthy being the key word as Jackson has played in just 12 games each of the last two seasons and missed the Ravens’ playoff game this past season with a knee injury.Whether the next snap he takes is for the Patriots is in coach Bill Belichick’s hands now it seems.
