A Medina woman was cited for DUI and driving outside marked lanes after a two-car crash. A dog bite incident resulted in charges against the owner. A man reported being scammed out of $90,000.

Updated: Jan. 12, 2025, 6:01 p.m. BRUNSWICK HILLS TOWNSHIP, Ohio A Medina woman was cited for operating a motor vehicle impaired and driving outside marked lanes following a two-car crash at 7 p.m. Dec. 31. The at-fault driver told police she was traveling northbound, behind the other car and struck the car in the rear. The other driver stated the woman was driving in the opposite direction, drove into his lane and struck the front of his car.

The evidence at the scene supported the victim’s account. The woman failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. No injuries were reported. Police responded to a report of a dog bite at 3:24 p.m. Dec. 29. The victim was bitten in the thigh area and the owner of the dog was reportedly putting pressure on the wound when police and EMS arrived. Witnesses said the dog attacked the victim “unprovoked” while the victim and the dog owner were involved in a verbal argument. Police noted the dog had previously bitten two neighbors, one a juvenile, and the owner had not registered the dog as a vicious dog as instructed at the time. The owner was also unable to provide police proper vaccination records and said the dog had no regular veterinarian. The owner reportedly agreed to surrender the dog to the Medina County Animal Shelter and charges were pending at the time of the report. The victim, meanwhile, was taken to the hospital and received 12 stitches, reports said. A man reported being scammed out of $90,000 by an unknown suspect offering $2.5 million and a new car. The victim sent cashier’s checks for several denominations to an address in California over the course of a month. He provided police with two names and phone numbers given by the scammers and the incident remained under investigation at the time of the report.
