A Medina Schools elementary school employee resigned their position after they were found under the influence of alcohol at work Friday.

MEDINA, Ohio - A Medina Schools elementary school employee resigned their position after they were suspected to be under the influence of alcohol at work Friday.

According to a release from Medina City Schools, district administrators suspected the Northrop Elementary staff member was under the influence.The employee was placed on administrative leave immediately pending a full investigation. The release says no students were in contact with the employee on Friday before they were placed on leave.Medina City Schools also released the following statement:

The safety and security of our students and staff are paramount. We continue to enforce strict policies and procedures to ensure a safe learning environment for all students and staff. Thank you for your support as we continue to investigate the situation and maintain a safe and positive environment for our learners and educators.
