The city of Medina, Ohio received good news regarding the demolition and asbestos removal costs for the 1969 courthouse. The lowest bidder came in at $1.36 million, significantly lower than the initial estimate of $2.1 million. Demolition and abatement work is expected to begin in late winter or early spring.

Medina Engineer Patrick Patton said the cost of demolition for the courthouse is less than expected.MEDINA, Ohio – While the city might still need to find ways to bring down the cost of renovations to the 1969 courthouse, council did receive some good news when it comes to the process of demolition and asbestos removal inside the building.

Demolition and abatement work inside the courthouse is expected to take place in late winter or early spring. “We need to be realistic and make sure we can afford this and that it works financially,” Coyne said. “But since then, Ruhlin has gotten some hard pricing and we are happy to announce the lowest bidder came in at $1.36 million so that is almost $800,000 less than we had expected,” Patton said.
