A medical transport jet crashed in a residential neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia, killing all six people on board. The Learjet 55 was en route from Northeast Philadelphia Airport to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri when it went down, erupting in a fireball that engulfed several homes in flames.

A medical transport jet carrying six people crashed into a residential neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia on Friday, resulting in a massive explosion and engulfing several homes in flames. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Learjet 55 was en route from Northeast Philadelphia Airport to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri when it went down.

The plane was reportedly on a medical mission with a crew of four and two passengers, including a pediatric patient, according to Jet Rescue Air Ambulance. Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, speaking at a news conference shortly after 8:30 p.m., confirmed the six occupants on board but was unable to provide an immediate update on fatalities. 'So right now we're just asking for prayers,' she said. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic and terrifying. One witness, who was driving past the crash site, stated, 'It was just horrific. I was just driving down the street, coming to Wendy's and I just saw a plane basically hit the building and it exploded. The sky lit up and I pulled over and basically it was just real bad around here.' Another witness, who was in the area looking for dinner, said, 'We heard an explosion and then saw the aftermath of flames and smoke. Common sense told me that I not get close to it and very quickly, just a cavalry of police and first responders. God bless them for going into harms way.'Several doorbell cameras captured the horrifying moment of impact, showing a fireball erupting into the sky. Debris from the plane was scattered across the area, with witnesses reporting seeing plane parts and even what appeared to be a human foot. The Philadelphia Fire Department responded swiftly to the scene, battling the blaze and attending to the injured. Several people in the vicinity sustained burn injuries and were transported to hospitals. The extent of their injuries remains unknown. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro offered his support and resources to local authorities and first responders. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are currently investigating the cause of the crash
