Medical Examiner's Office IDs 34-year-old climber killed on El Cajon Mountain [Breaking]
in East County died of multiple blunt force injuries while climbing, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office announced Sunday.
that Shmidt was a high school English teacher and avid climber who “died doing his favorite thing in his favorite place.”Shmidt began hiking around 9 a.m. Monday and was due back home around 2 p.m., so when he didn’t arrive and wasn’t answering phone calls, his family reported him missing, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and Medical Examiner’s Office.
