A medical ambulance jet operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance crashed on Friday night in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, while transporting a pediatric patient. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near Roosevelt Mall as the Learjet 55 departed from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. On board were four crew members and two passengers: a pediatric patient and her mother. All individuals involved were Mexican nationals.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the crew consisted of a pilot, co-pilot, physician, and paramedic. The aircraft was en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri. \This is not the first fatal incident involving Jet Rescue Air Ambulance. In November 2023, the company operated a Learjet 35A that crashed during landing at Cuernavaca Airport in Morelos, Mexico. The aircraft departed from Toluca International Airport in Toluca, Mexico, with five crew members on board, but there were no survivors. \The Philadelphia crash resulted in significant damage as the plane was carrying jet fuel, which ignited upon impact. The ensuing blaze spread to nearby row homes, causing multiple fires. Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker confirmed the crash but could not provide details on fatalities. A senior Philadelphia fire official stated that the fires were under control. Six houses and six cars were reported to be ablaze. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation, with assistance from the FAA and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy informed President Donald Trump and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro about the incident
